Elijah / Rio Rancho

When your travels take you to New Mexico, be sure to hit up Rio Rancho and check out the dancing scene with me.

How long have I been longboard dancing?

I’ve been dancing a little over a month now, but I’ve been long-boarding in general for 10 years now.

What’s my current dancing setup?

What motivated me to start longboard dancing?

When i started long-boarding i would simply push and let the board do its thing. I used to think that i was so cool and unstoppable as a kid, but not to long ago i saw Jeff Corsi dancing on a board similar to mine and it gave me a nostalgic feeling and i said, “i want to do that…”. That would mark the beginning of me dancing.

What’s been my favorite longboard dancing experience thus far.

on about the second day of dancing i was messing around not being serious and thought to myself , “I’m going to try and do some cross step…”, and i did it first try and i lost my chill. I was jumping and cheering in the middle of the street like i just win the lottery.

What’s my favorite move to do on a longboard?

I love doing kick flips, tiger claws, and ollies. I like to do all these because when you do it in front of your everyday skateboarder the sit there confused and in awe.

What cool things do I like to do, other than longboard dancing?

When it comes to danger or speed i do it. I’m an intermediate downhill longboarder, the fastest I’ve gone is 56 mph. I also like to go mountain biking time to time.

  1. Hi Eli ! I couldn’t find your accounts through the apps.
I’ve started longboard dancing 6 months ago and I’m learning that it’s harder to find boarders in the U.S. with lots of experience to question and fallow around a bit. I’ve read your bit on preparing for your first run and I really want to compete next year, but I have no other idea of what to do besides board. I’ve practive 4 hours average daily. But I don’t know what there is to look forward to.

    • Hey hey, it’s a bit of a loaded question, because in competition runs a lot of the rider’s performance (and also their own enjoyment) is heavily subjective to their own style. So I can’t, and really no one for that matter, can tell you what you should practice with a A-Z program. The best tip I can give is skate often, and practice small combos, 1-3 things that you can master together, vs huge pre-planned lines. This will keep you flexible with your performances regardless of the size of teh competition area, and practice with all different kinds of music, and without music, as changes here can also sometimes throw riders off.
